September 14 - 5:30pm | An Evening of Three Operettas with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra and Opera: Miracles, Sacred Clown, and Mercy Killing

Driggs Plaza, 60 South Main Street

The Colorado Chamber Orchestra and Opera will perform a trio of mini-operas, each only 20 minutes long, outdoors at Driggs Plaza. The operas, built on the lyrics of Dr. Jeffrey Lockwood and music of Thomas Blomster and Noriko Tsuchiya, are inspired by ethics, the natural sciences, and the American West.

In Miracles, an unlikely human-animal trio ponders the nature of faith, truth, and beauty. Mercy Killing takes the audience into a collision of lives – human, animal, and machine – which draws a young man to confront what drives his life. In Sacred Clown, a wise woman bridges her son’s perplexity and her father’s absurdity to help them understand that sometimes what appears practically futile is of ultimate meaning.

Wine from Two Mountain Winery and other drinks will be offered for sale during the event.
